Authorities say one person was injured seriously this morning in a single-vehicle wreck on N.C. 218 in Mint Hill.
It is the second time in a week that crews dealt with a serious traffic situation on that roadway, which runs from N.C. 51, across northern Mecklenburg and Union counties, into Anson County at Polkton.
As was the case last week, this morning's wreck was not far from Interstate 485, at Old Dutch Road. The driver of a car apparently lost control of the vehicle, and it tumbled down an embankment. This happened about 6 a.m.
Crews needed almost 45 minutes to free the driver from the wreckage. The motorist was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, according to police radio reports.
