Take a look at new Eye

My love affair with Charlotte started in the mid-'70s. My family would stop at the old Krispy Kreme on Independence Boulevard on the way to the beach. I came to work at The Charlotte Observer in the late '80s. I planned to be here a few years and then head to Washington. Instead, I stayed so I could live, work and play in the heart of a thriving, vital city.

When I did consider leaving, something, either personally or professionally, would change for the better. I wanted to hang around and see what would happen next. You're holding one of those changes: Eye magazine. I was editor of Eye in its first incarnation as a newsprint weekly. The switch to a glossy magazine seemed to be the natural next step.

While the paper stock and frequency have changed, Eye the magazine's mission remains the same: Reflect the dynamic, vibrant lives of people who live,

work and play in Uptown and the central city.

A good place to get a taste of the QC is the Friends of Fourth Ward Holiday Home Tour (see page 14 for details). You'll see the inside of homes, new and old, in the city's most charming neighborhood. I lived there for a year and still miss it. Go!
