The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Historic Landmarks Commission on Monday voted to negotiate with Bank of America to save a historic downtown firehouse. Built in the 1920s, Charlotte Fire Station No. 4 was a working firehouse until 1972. The station located on West Fifth Street in Fourth Ward now serves as a firefighter museum.
